Automatic sensitive-info blur for screen recordings

Blur passwords, API keys,
and anything else on screen.

VideoBlur scans your screen recording for passwords, API keys, tokens, and desktop notifications and redacts them automatically — on your Mac, before the video ever leaves your machine.

BeforeAfter

Illustrated screen recording. Drag anywhere on the image.

How it works

Drop a clip. Pick a preset. Export.

  1. 01

    Drop your video

Drag any .mp4, .mov, or .m4v onto VideoBlur. It loads instantly — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

  2. 02

    Pick a preset

Choose Faces, License Plates, Screens & sensitive info, or any combination. No manual masking, no per-frame selection, no timeline scrubbing.

  3. 03

    Export

VideoBlur detects, tracks, and blurs automatically, then saves a new file next to the original as filename_blurred.mp4.

  4. 04

    Review before you share

Play the exported file directly inside the app to confirm the blur before you upload or send it anywhere else.

Who it's for

If you record your screen, this is for you.

Dev-tool & coding tutorial creators

Record a real terminal or IDE session without editing out every stray credential or .env value afterward.

SaaS demo & onboarding videos

Walk through your product on a real account without a Slack notification or API key leaking into the recording.

IT, support & internal Loom clips

Share a quick screen recording with a client or teammate without a password field or filename slipping through.

Why pixelate, not blur

Blur can be undone. Try it.

Gaussian blur

Looks private.

Pixelate — our default

Also looks private.

Real sharpening filter, running live in your browser. Nothing is faked.

Scene-aware, hardware-accelerated

Detection runs per-scene and tracks between cuts instead of re-scanning every frame, using your Mac's GPU and Neural Engine.

Fully on-device

Your footage never touches a server. No account, no cloud processing, no upload step, ever.

Audio preserved

The original audio track passes through untouched — no re-encoding, no sync drift.

Privacy

Not a policy promise. A design decision.

There is no upload step in VideoBlur to remove, because there was never one to begin with. Everything runs on your Mac.

  • No internet connection required after purchase
  • No telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting — opt-in only
  • Verifiable: block VideoBlur in Little Snitch and it still works
  • Pixelate is the default — Gaussian blur is reversible and carries a warning

The alternative

Most blur tools upload your footage.
We don't.

Questions

Sensitive-info redaction questions, answered.

What counts as “sensitive info” on screen?
Passwords, API keys, tokens, .env values, credential URLs, desktop notifications, and filenames — VideoBlur's PII rule engine is layered to catch all of these, not just one pattern.
How does it detect this stuff automatically?
On-device OCR reads on-screen text, then a layered rule engine (secret-scanning-style regex plus custom credential-URL matching) flags sensitive regions. Everything runs locally — no video or extracted text ever leaves your Mac.
Will it also blur desktop notifications?
Yes, with the Screens preset's Notifications sub-toggle — banners that pop up mid-recording get blurred automatically instead of ending up in the final export.
Is full sensitive-info redaction a Basic or Pro feature?
Full password/API-key/credential and notification detection is part of the $59 Pro tier. Basic ($29) includes a simpler generic phone-and-laptop-screen blur for when you just want to soften a whole screen region.
How is this different from Loom, Camtasia, or Screen Studio?
Those tools record and edit screens but have no built-in sensitive-info detection — you're responsible for catching every credential yourself before sharing. VideoBlur is purpose-built to find and redact that content automatically.
Is VideoBlur a subscription?
No. It's a one-time purchase — $29 for Basic or $59 for Pro (full sensitive-info redaction) — and you keep using it. No recurring credits, no monthly fee.
Does my recording get uploaded anywhere for processing?
No. OCR, detection, and redaction all run locally on your Mac. You can verify this yourself by blocking VideoBlur in a firewall tool like Little Snitch and confirming exports still work.

Your next screen recording probably has a password in it.
